The annual Alms Giving of the Royal College Past Teachers’ Association was held on the 24th of June 2023. It was held at the Asokaramaya Temple, Thimbirigasyaya. Mrs. Leeda Edirisuriya was in charge of all the arrangements for the pinkama.
The Chief Priest of the temple Gatahaththe Sobitha thero conducted the proceedings. 13 priests participated in the dane including our own member Meegoda Pattiyawala Chandaloka thero. More than 60 RCPTA members also participated in the pinkama. The Dana salawa was a hive of activity from about 7.00am. Most of the members of the RCPTA prepared the food necessary for the dawal dane from their homes. Nothing was in short supply. Before partaking the dane the Chief Priest of the Temple delivered the anusasana. This was held to invoke blessings on the 14 members who passed away after 2021 June, but overall blessings were given to all the demised past members as well as the present members. A large number of pirikaras were offered including Atapirikara.
The chief priest was full of praise for the RCPTA for doing a pinkama of this magnitude. He said the merits gained will be blessed on the members to shorten the journey in samsara. Ven. Pattiywala also spoke on the occasion.
After the priests left the members enjoyed the midday meal.
