Royal College Annual Health Screening Program - 2025
The RCDA annual health screening program was held on the 6th April 2025 for the 25th time. The program was led by Dr Ajith Tennakoon the President of the RCDA. The program was held for the benefit of the Past Teachers as well as the Present Teachers. On arrival their height and weight were checked. Then they were led to a room where there were several doctors, all old Royalists, examined them and directed them to the various clinics according to their complaints. The entire Navarangahala premises had been converted to a small hospital with specialized clinics led by senior specialized doctors and junior doctors all old Royalists and sometimes their wives who are also doctors.
Meanwhile a meeting of the RCDA was held at the Navarangahala Hall. The Principal, Vice Principals of Royal College and the Past Principals Mr. B. Suriarachchi and Mr. S.H. Kumarasinghe and Capt. M.N. Dharmaratne who was in charge of the Medical Camp were invited to be present.
Dr. Ajith Tennakoon traced the history of the involvement of the RCDA in the medical camp during the last 25 years. There had been several cases where some past teachers were detected with ailments that they were unaware of and immediate action had been taken to remedy the situation. Clinics were conducted with regard to Heart Problems, Diabetes, Neurological deceases, Cancer, Dental, Eye camp, general Medical Problems and also Psychiatric clinic to name a few.
At the meeting President of the RCPTA Mr. M. Dharmadasa also spoke. He thanked Dr. Ajith Tennakoon President RCDA and the chief organizer of the clinic Dr.Vimukthi Jayatunge for a well organized program. He also thanked them for arranging a Television program with Derana TV where both the Presidents of RCPTA and RCDA were present. It was telecast on the 3rd April 2025 just before the Medical Camp to let everyone know the value of the program. This Medical Camp is the first of its kind to be held by Past Pupils of any school for the benefit of their teachers.
