RCPTA offered a Mid day Meal to all the Wards of Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama on the 24th of August 2024

Royal Colllege Past Teachers’ Association offered a midday meal and some necessary drugs to all the wards at Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama on the 24th August 2024. A Dhamma sermon was held at ward 21. The Buddhist Priest who delivered the sermon was Kelaniye Sasanawansa Thero, who was also a member of the staff at Royal College. Along with the members of the RCPTA some patients of the male ward 21 were also allowed by the Hospital staff to listen to the sermon.

In his sermon the priest, made it a point to stress on the fact that though all of us think the we are healthy than others we never know at what time when death will knock on our door. We tend to think only the sick will face death. But it is the karma that will decide it. He brought out so many instances during Buddha’s time about untimely deaths that happened. Those patients were intently listening to his sermon would have got some solace from it.

Ata Pirikara and other Pirikara’s were also offered and the patients were also allowed to participate in it. Our President Mr. M. Dharmadasa gave a speech thanking the Hospital staff for all the support given. The coordinating team for the project led by Mrs. Sepali Ratnayake did a wonderful job in organizing the project. We thank all those members of the RCPTA, Old Royalists and other well wishers who generously contributed for the project. May the merits gained be blessed upon on all of them.
