The RCPTA has been granting Scholarships from funds collected from its members as well as well Wishers to those students who secured high marks from the grade five scholarship examination. The RCPTA grants these scholarships to those who obtained high marks coming from underprivileged families in the rural areas. Mr. Ranjith Senanayake initiated this project assisted by Mrs. Patricia Paranamana. We started with four scholarships which has now grown up to 27.
The get-together of the donors, the school authorities, the scholars and their parents were held on the 8th November 2023 at the Dinning Hall of the College Hostel. The coordinator of the project Mrs. Kanthi Abeykoon had organized the event with utmost care. This year each student was gifted with a gift voucher for Rs. 5000/- from DSI shoe company. The President of the RCPTA spoke on the occasion giving details of the project and also good advice to the parents and students on how to appreciate such generosity from the donors. The Vice Principal of Royal College, The Hostel Warden, and a parent representing the scholars also spoke on the occasion. Mrs. Kanthi Abeykoon also spoke on the occasion to thank all those persons who helped to make this occasion a success
The very tasty spread of Sri Lankan sweet meats had been organized by the parents of the scholars to show their appreciation for everyone present that day.
